US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu is set to embark on a diplomatic visit to India next week to engage in the 2+2 ministerial discussions, focusing on strategic alignment on various regional and international matters, advancements in clean energy, and furthering security partnerships.

Commencing his journey on November 4 and concluding on November 11, Lu’s itinerary includes stops in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and culminates in India, as per an announcement by the State Department.

In the Indian capital of New Delhi, Lu will engage with counterparts in preparation for the US-India 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue, emphasizing strategic collaboration on regional and international challenges, renewable energy initiatives, and bolstering security ties.

Assistant Secretary Lu is poised to assist Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and Secretary of Defence Lloyd J. Austin during the 2+2 Dialogue, driving forward discussions on a broad spectrum of topics such as security and defense strategies, regional dynamics, emerging technologies, and joint ventures in clean energy and aerospace sectors, according to the State Department.

Lu’s mission will also include spearheading a US delegation to Central Asia, building upon the foundational C5+1 Presidential Summit held alongside the United Nations General Assembly in September and the C5+1 Regional Connectivity Ministerial in October.

While in Astana, Lu is scheduled to convene with top Kazakh government officials and partake in the US-Kazakhstan Enhanced Strategic Partnership Dialogue (ESPD). The ESPD will serve as a platform for the United States and Kazakhstan to deliberate over a myriad of mutual interests including political and security collaborations, economic partnerships, human rights safeguards, and cultural exchanges.

He will also engage with civil society representatives to promote the empowerment of women and girls as well as advocate for media freedom.

In Tashkent, Lu will helm the US delegation during the U.S.-Uzbekistan Strategic Partnership Dialogue (SPD), fostering bilateral ties.
